When going to the saloon is not an option due to whatever reason but removing those gel nails is important as you can not take it anymore due to those grown-out nails. You have to take things in your out hands. But peeling it out may cause damage to the nails as it’s not simple nail polish, you can peel off the natural layer of nail along with gel nail polish.
With this gel removing guide, you can easily remove your gel nail polish with tools you probably already have in your home.
The tools you will need for the process are:
Acetone, cotton balls, manicure sticks, nail file buff, aluminum foil, nail brush.
Remove the top layer:
Remember after your last manicure, the topcoat that gives it shine and seals off the design on your nails? It’s time to say bye to that coat. Buff off the top coat from your nails using a nail file buffer. It helps the process ease out as you have removed the top protective tough coat.
Acetone dipped cotton balls:
Dip some cotton balls in a nail polish remover with acetone. While acetone is not recommended to remove nail polish etc. but for gel nail polish, an acetone-based nail polish remover is highly recommended as it breaks it quicker and more effectively.
Place cotton balls on your nails:
Place cotton balls on your fingernails very carefully. This is the part where you work slowly but perfectly. Try to avoid contact with cotton balls with skin or cuticles. Once placed, secure the cotton balls on the fingernails with aluminum foil by wrapping it around each fingernail separately.
Final touches:
After 15-20 mins remove the aluminum foil and cotton balls. Gently remove all the remaining polish from your fingernails just by rubbing them and apply cuticle oil on your fingernails to compensate for the damage acetone might have done to them.
