How to remove acrylics at home

Acrylics are one of the most popular ways to get your nails done. Basically, it’s a pretty simple process. Acrylic is like an artificial nail but more sophisticated. It is a protective coating over your nail. It can be used to increase the nail length or work with different custom shapes of your nails.

Applying acrylics is a pretty simple and easy process. But still, many people are afraid of getting acrylics because of its rigorous removing process.

It is recommended to get them removed from a professional at the saloon. But if you want to remove them yourself at home then follow the steps below and you will see it is not that difficult. You need to do it carefully with proper guidance.

Follow these steps to remove your acrylics at home:

  • Use a cover (towel, sheet, etc.) on your table because the chemical used for removing acrylics can damage furniture.
  • You will need acetone to remove the acrylics. Pour it in a bowl deep enough that you can dip your nails in it.
  • To protect your fingers and skin from acetone, apply petroleum jelly on your fingers.
  • Soak your fingertips in the solution.
  • After 20 mins, the gel that was keeping the acrylics on your nails will start to dissolve and fall apart.
  • Use a cuticle stick to remove the acrylics.
  • Wash your hands and nails thoroughly.
  • Use a buffer to smooth the nail after removing the acrylics
  • Use a moisturizer to relieve the skin off the harshness of acetone.

Follow each step very carefully and responsibly. If you experience any pain or discomfort or if you think you have damaged the nail then stop the process immediately and wash your hands. Consult a doctor if the discomfort continues. See video tutorials if you can’t picture the process just by reading.
