Oily skin – what to do?

One of the biggest challenges in skin care is for people with oily skin. Oil control is not very easy to maintain. But why is oil control necessary?

There are multiple reasons for it. First of all oily skin turns your natural complexion to a darker tone just because of the oil that is surfacing on your skin. It makes skin all shinny and to be honest, that doesn’t look very good. One downfall of oily skin is that the oil that comes to the surface of the skin combines with all the dirt that is coming in contact with your skin from the environment and this combination makes up a greasy layer that is harmful to your skin and brings up a number of issues including open pores, acne and more.

Causes:

There are various reasons why your skin could be oily, some of which are as follows:

  • Hormones (hormonal imbalance can lead to excess oil production in the skin)
  • Chemicals (some harsh ingredients in your skin care products can trigger your oil glands to produce extra oil)
  • Genetics (it is possible you have an oily skin type)
  • Weather (humidity and harsh sun can trigger oil glands to produce oil so that your skin can remain protected from such environmental factors)

Control oily skin:

To control such oily skin you need to use skin care products that are meant to control excess oil and keep your skin shine-free. But choose the products that don’t have harsh chemicals. Use products that are gentle on your skin.

It is also important to maintain a skin care routine to actively remove all the excess oil. Frequently wash your face with skin-friendly oil removal cleansers. If a cleanser or facewash is not available at times, then just wash your face with freshwater and dry it gently with a clean towel cotton cloth.
